Softball Doubleheader Against Robert Morris Changed to YSU Softball Complex at 5 p.m.

The softball doubleheader between Youngstown State and Robert Morris has been moved to the YSU Softball Complex due to unplayable field conditions in Moon Township, Pa. The doubleheader will begin at 5 p.m.

The Penguins and Colonials have met 59 times previously and the Penguins own a 32-27 advantage in the all-time series. Robert Morris has won the last eight contests and the Penguins' last victory came in 2006.

Robert Morris enters today's games with an overall mark 15-16. Nicole Sleith leads the Colonials' staff with a 10-6 record and a 1.24 earned-run average. Sleith has struck out 124 in 112.2 innings pitched. Tess Apke leads the Colonials' offense with a .383 batting average, five home runs and 16 RBIs.

The Penguins have won 10 of their last 15 games, including three of the last four, and have had three three-game winning streaks this year.

Senior Casey Crozier, the school's all-time wins and strikeouts leader with 50 victories and 459 strikeouts, leads the pitching staff with a 9-3 record, a 2.47 earned-run average and 90 strikeouts. She also has 10 complete games and three shutouts. Crozier's 13 career shutouts rank tied for third all-time at Youngstown State.

Senior Courtney Ewing has been a tough out at the plate and carries a 14-game hitting streak into today's doubleheader. Over that span, Ewing is batting .417 (20-for-48) with two double, five runs scored and four runs batted in. On the season, Ewing ranks second on the team with a .333 batting average.

Sophomore Miranda Castiglione, who leads the team in batting, ranks third in the Horizon League with a .412 batting average. Castiglione leads the lead with 35 hits, 26 runs scored, ranks second with five home runs and a .468 on-base percentage, and is third with a .671 slugging percentage.

Senior Sarah Ingalls ranks second in the Horizon League with 19 RBIs while freshman Sarah Dowd is tied for fourth with 17.

The Penguins, who are the top hitting team in the Horizon League with a .283 batting average, have four players ranked in the top 10 in hits. Castiglione leads the league with 35, Ewing is third with 26, and Ingalls and senior Haley Knight are tied for seventh with 23. Knight is also tied for second in the Horizon League with seven doubles.

The Penguins visit Green Bay for a three-game Horizon League series, April 5-6, in Green Bay, Wis. First pitch on Saturday is slated for 5 p.m. EST.
