Softball Falls to SEC Foe Mississippi, 9-2

Oxford, Miss. -- Junior Sarah Dowd and senior Miranda Castiglione each had two hits but the Youngstown State softball team dropped a 9-2 decision to Mississippi on Wednesday night at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.

After the loss, the Penguins fall to 7-10 overall.

Sophomore Cali Mikovich's bases-loaded walk in the top of the first inning gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead.

The Rebels scored five in the bottom of the first before the Penguins answered with an unearned run in the top of the second.

Ole Miss scored one in the bottom of the second and three more in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away.

The Penguins face Jackson State in a doubleheader on March 11 at 4 p.m.
