Five Win Events For Penguins at Northeast Ohio Quad

Akron, Ohio - Chad Zallow, Collin Harden, Jaliyah Elliott, Jessica Stever and Nicole Squatrito earned event wins for the Youngstown State men's and women's track and field teams on Saturday at the Northeast Ohio Quad hosted by Akron.

In the dual scoring, both the YSU men and women beat Kent State and Ashland. The women had a good battle with Akron, falling to the Zips by five points.

In the 100m dash, Elliott took first with a time of 11.75 seconds while Keishawnna Burts was third running an 11.91.

In the 800 run, the Penguins finished first and second. Winning the race with a time of 2:18.53 was Squatrito while Natalie Fleming had a time of 2:20.68.

Chad Zallow ran a strong race in the 110m hurdles to earn a victory. Zallow ran a time of 13.77 seconds to win by 0.52 seconds. Harden won the 300m hurdles with a time of 37.78 seconds. Zallow also picked up a victory in the 150m dash with a time of 15.89 seconds.

In the long jump, the YSU women took first and second. Jessica Stever won with a leap of 5.41m while Chandler Killins was second with a 5.31m jump.  

In the men's 100m dash, the Guins took three of the top five spots. Carl Zallow was second running a time of 10:83 seconds, Brendon Lucas finished fourth with a time of 10.97 seconds and Josh Beaumont was fifth with a time of 11.13 seconds. Lucas was fourth in the 150m with a time of 16.32 seconds.

In the women's 150m run, Burts was second with a time of 18.04 seconds, Elliott was third with a time of 18.18 seconds and Teneisha Myers was fifth with a time of 18.39 seconds. 

In the 300m, Teneisha Myers was third with a time of 39.54 seconds while Iva Domitrovich ran a time of 40.86 seconds. For the men, Harden was third in the 300m with a time of 34.63 seconds while Caleb Lloyd had a time of 34.96 seconds.

Amber Eles finished third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.76 seconds. 

YSU placed second, third and fourth in the women's 5,000m run. McKinsie Klim placed second with a time of 17:52.17 while Michelle Klim was third at 18:15.22. Finishing fourth was Morgan Buckley with a time of 18:39.61. For the men, YSU placed second and third in the 5,000m. Finishing second was Derek Basinger with a time of 15:52.26 while Ethan Wilson was third at 16:09.26.

In the steepelchase, Ashleigh Rowley ran a time of 12:04.98. For the men, Derek Morrison had a time of 10:35.32 in the steeplechase.

Natalie Fleming took second place in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:51.15. Jennifer Muhlenkamp was YSU's next best finisher placing sixth with a time of 4:59.26.

C.J. Schumacher finished fourth in the 1,500m with a time of 4:06.54. James Nedrich was YSU's next fastest runner in the 1,500m with a time of 4:16.18.

In the javelin, Angela Lock took third place with a throw of 41.73m while Coreen Crosby had toss of 36.02m. For the men, Ben Wilson led the way with a best toss of 45.71m.

For the men in the long jump, Daiquian Watson had a best leap of 6.64m. 

Arnaldo Morales took second in the high jump clearing a height of 2.05m. Morales and Akron's Curtis Richardson each cleared 2.05m but Richardson cleared the mark on his first attempt. For the women, Abby Jones placed fourth clearing the bar at 1.67m.

In the discus, Andrew Hallof had a throw of 44.75m to lead the men while Jaynee Corbett had a best toss of 43.29m. 

Killins was also second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.53m. She was just 0.05m from first place. For the men, Chibuike Obinnakwelu had a best effort of 13.05m in the triple jump.

The Penguins are next in action at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic set for April 13-14.
