The Youngstown State bowling team went 1-2 in best-of-seven bracket matches on Sunday and finished 16th overall at the Track Kat Klash in Houston.

The Penguins began the day in 15th place and split two seven-game matches against Prairie View A&M and lost to Maryville to drop one spot in the final standings.

In its first match of the day against the Panthers, the Penguins broke 190 three times to win 4-3. YSU won three of the first four games, and two of its losses were by a combined five pins. The Penguins finished the contest with a decisive 199-148 win in game seven.

Maryville then swept the Penguins 4-0 in the second match, and YSU fell in seven to Prairie View A&M to conclude the tournament. Youngstown State trailed 3-0 in the match but won the next three to force a winner-take-all, which the Panthers won 176-156.

The tournament concluded YSU's fall schedule, and the Penguins won't be in action again until Jan. 19, 2018.
