Indianapolis - Youngstown State sophomore golfer Katlyn Shutt was named the Horizon League Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Shutt shot a 74 to tie for medalist honors and help lead YSU to a first-place finish in the Sand Ridge Shootout at Sand Ridge Golf Club in Chardon, Ohio on Friday. Her teammate Megan Creager also shot a 74 to finish in a tie for first atop the leaderboard.

Shutt earned medalist honors for the second time in her career, having previously won at the Horizon League Championships last season. Shutt's 74 is her lowest single-round score of the season thus far. She was competing in just her fourth event of the season on Friday after missing the team's entire fall slate due to injury.

Shutt was also YSU's top finisher last week at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational. She led the Penguins with a two-round score of 158 (80-78) to finish in a tie for 29th. The sophomore posted the team's lowest score in each round of the event.

YSU will be in action at the Horizon League Championships beginning this weekend, April 22-24 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
