The Youngstown State women's golf team will begin the spring portion of its 2017-2018 season on Monday with the Oyster Shuck Match Play event at Patriots Point Links in Charleston, S.C.
The event will feature tournament match play in a bracket-style format with all rounds counting and the winning team in each head-to-head match advancing.
The tournament will feature seven other schools including The Citadel (host), Radford, Appalachian State, Dayton, Gardner-Webb, North Carolina A&T and Wofford.
The Penguins will face Appalachian State in the first round of play.
Shutt won medalist honors at the Horizon League Championships last season as a freshman, becoming the fifth YSU golfer to win the individual title.
Minor was named Horizon League Freshman of the Year and was a second-team all-league honoree after her 2015-16 season which featured four top-15 finishes. She was redshirted for the 2016-2017 season due to injury.
Thoughts from Coach Miklos: "We are excited to finally get back out on the course and compete. The team has been working really hard this spring. We've made a lot of progress and are looking forward to competing again at full strength with Gabby and Katlyn returning to the lineup."
The first round of play will kick off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET on Monday and the second round is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. that afternoon. The final round is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The course will play approximately 6,000 yards and par is 72. Scores and winners will be posted at the completion of each round and will be available on GolfStat.com. There will be no live scoring for the event.
