Soccer Drops Heartbreaking 3-2 Double Overtime Loss to IPFW

Fort Wayne, Ind. -- After storming back from a 2-0 second-half deficit to force overtime, the Youngstown State soccer team fell to IPFW, 3-2, in double overtime on Thursday evening.

The Penguins fall to 1-2 while the Mastodons improve to 1-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, the Mastodons took a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the second half on goals by Felicia Jones and Tara O'Toole.

Sophomore Cori Stark scored her first career goal and cut the deficit in half scoring from 24-yards out on a direct kick.

With just five-and-a-half minutes left, freshman Allison Ludwig scored her fourth goal of the season and tied the game at 2-2 with 5:36 to go.

With 3:17 left in the second overtime, Tylar Allison scored the game-winner past goalkeeper Nicole Kline for the victory.

The Penguins visit Toledo, Sunday, Aug. 29, at 1 p.m.
