Women's Soccer Hosts Horizon League Co-Leader IUPUI Friday Night

The Youngstown State women's soccer team (4-8-1, 0-4 Horizon League) host Horizon League co-leader IUPUI, Friday, Oct. 6. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field in the Covelli Sports Complex

Last Time Out
Junior Alison Green scored her second goal of the season but the Penguins dropped a 2-1 decision to Oakland on Sept. 30.

The Jaguars have won nine straight matches and enter the game against YSU with an overall record of 10-3. IUPUI is the Horizon League's co-leader with a 4-0 league mark. Leading the Jaguars is Valetine Pursey with five goals, three assists and 13 points while Krissy Kirkhoff and Hayley Stelton each have three goals and six assists for 12 points. Goalkeeper Sophia Lipka owns a 10-3 record with a 0.68 goals-against average and eight shutouts.

The IUPUI Series
This is the seventh meeting between Youngstown State and IUPUI in a series that dates back to 1999. The Jaguars have won all six previous match ups, including a 3-2 overtime in in 2007 at Stambaugh Stadium.

Goin' Green
Junior Alison Green stepped up her offensive production over the last two games. Green scored each of the Penguins' goals against Cleveland State and Oakland. The goals were Green's first two of the year and the fourth and fifth of her career.

Lum Climbing Charts
Senior Kyler Lum continues her climbing up the YSU all-time scoring charts. With her goal against Northern Kentucky, Lum moved into a tie for fifth on the career goals chart with 12 and into a tie for seventh with 29 career points. With her next assist or goal, she will become just the seventh player in school history to score at least 30 points in a career. She also ranks tied for ninth all-time with 79 career shots.

Moffett Nets Career High
Sophomore goalkeeper Kylee Moffett turned in the best match of her young career. She recorded a career-high 11 saves in a 1-1 tie against Duquesne. She also came out top in four 1v1 situations to keep the score at 1-1 during regulation time. Moffett again came up with a penalty save in the first OT period.

Martin Moves into 10th
Senior Marissa Martin also moved into the top 10 in career goals scored. Martin, who has two goals this season, ranks tied for 10th with nine career goals.

Four Straight Shutouts=School Record
The Penguins set a school record with four straight shutouts from Aug. 21 through Sept. 1. Sophomore goalkeeper Kylee Moffett became the first YSU goalkeeper in program history to collect four consecutive shutouts. In those matches, Moffett has posted 12 saves.
