Women's Soccer Begins League Play Against Milwaukee, Travels to Bowling Green

The Youngstown State women's soccer team host Milwaukee on Friday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. from Farmers National Bank Field in the Covelli Sports Complex. On Sunday, Sept. 16, the Penguins will travel to Bowling Green to take on the Falcons at 1 p.m. from Mickey Cochrane Field. 

Last Time Out
YSU lost 1-0 to Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday, Sept. 7 and lost to Robert Morris by a score of 2-0 on Sunday, Sept. 9.

Gameday Promotions
Friday's matchup with Milwaukee will be the Lace Up-Go4TheGoal Pediatric Cancer Awareness Game and will also feature AVI Concession Dollar Dog Night and a water bottle giveaway.

About Milwaukee
The Panthers enter the contest with a 6-0 record which includes a 3-2 win last time out against Iowa State. Haley Johnson leads Milwaukee with 11 points on three goals and five assists. Goalkeeper Elaina LaMacchia has a .66 goals against average and has made 20 saves in 541 minutes in net.

The Milwaukee Series
This is the 18th meeting between YSU and Milwakuee in a series that dates back to 2001. The Panthers own a 15-2 record against the Penguins after defeating them 2-1 in overtime last season. YSU's last win came at home in 2014 when the Penguins won 3-2 in overtime.

About Bowling Green
Bowling Green enters the contest with a 1-3-1 record, but will play DePaul on Thursday prior to their matchup with the Penguins. Nikki Cox is the leading goal scorer for the Falcons with two goals on the season.

The Bowling Green Series
This is the seventh meeting between YSU and Bowling Green in a series that dates back to 1997. When the teams last played in 2011, Bowling Green won 2-1 at Farmers National Bank Field.

Hughes Moving Up the Record Books
Senior defender Madison Hughes has been a staple on the back line since her freshman season. Hughes has started in 60 career games and is currently 4 starts away from entering the Top 10 in matches started all-time at Youngstown State.
