Penguins Hold Senior Day Meet Against Cleveland State on Friday

The Youngstown State swimming and diving program will play host to Cleveland State on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Beeghly Natatorium. The dual is the final meet for the Penguins prior to the Horizon League Championships which are later this month in Cleveland.

The dual is the final home contest for five seniors - Madison Aranda, Viktoria Orosz, Kolbrun Jonsdottir, McKenzie Stelter and Bethany Glick. Senior Rachel Shipp has decided to return to the program in 2018-19. 

Aranda has been a key contributor for the program during her outstanding YSU career. On seven occasions she has posted a top-seven finish or better at the Horizon League Champions. Her best finish at the League meet was second in the 1,000m. She is the school record holder in the 200 butterfly and the 1,00- freestyle. She also is part of four school-record holding relay swims.

Glick has improved her scores throughout her Penguins career and placed fifth in the both the one-meter and three-meter dives at the Horizon League meet last year. She is a three-time NCAA Zone C Diving meet qualifier and ranks fourth in school history in both the one and three meter events.

During Jonsdottir's career she has been a primarily a sprint freestyle swimmer for the Guins. She ranks in the top 10 in school history in the 50 free, 100 free and the 200 free and is part of the school-record relay teams in the 200 free, 400 free and 800 free.

Orosz has nine top-seven finishes at the Horizon League Championships and has been in the top three on seven occasions. Her best finish was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2016. She is YSU's record holder in the 100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 1,650 free and 200 IM. She's also second in the 1,000. She also is part of four school-record holding relay swims.

Stelter has four top-five finishes at the Horizon League Championships, including a pair of fourth-place finishes last year. She had a career-best third-place performance in the one-meter in 2016. She is fifth in school history in the one-meter and sixth at YSU in the three-meter event.

The YSU divers will play host the YSU Diving Invitational on Saturday at 1 p.m.
