Record Four Penguins Named Academic All-Horizon League

The Youngstown State swimming and diving team had a program record four student-athletes earn Academic All-Horizon League honors for 2017-18 the league announced on Monday.

Seniors Kolbrun JonsdottirViktoria Orosz and McKenzie Stelter were all recognized as part of the Academic team. Junior Megan Stelpflug was also named to the All-Academic squad. 

Orosz becomes just the third student-athlete in school history to be recognized three times in a career. 

Jonsdoitter and Orosz concluded their YSU careers at the Horizon League Championships this past weekend. Stelter has qualified for the NCAA Zone C Diving Meet which is in March. 

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.
