Burak, Hankle Continue Winning Ways in Loss to Green Bay

Boardman -- Youngstown State freshman Marta Burak improved to 4-0 in Horizon League play while junior Lauren Hankle is now 3-1 following wins over Green Bay on Saturday at the Boardman Tennis Center. The Phoenix won the match 5-2.

Burak is now 16-8 and 4-0 in Horizon Leauge play following her straight set win over Jennifer Bradfield. She won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.

Hankle improved to 12-8 overall and 3-1 in HL play with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Morgan Weuve at No. 2 singles.

Carolyn Jesko won her first set at No. 3 singles 6-1 over Maria Anderson. However, Anderson won the second set 6-3 and the third set 10-6. At No. 4, Gimena Puppo dropped a 6-1, 2-0 decision to Maria Anderson while at No. 5, Jennifer Moore lost 6-0, 6-1 to Rebecca Nelson.

In doubles play, Burak and Jesko were victorious over Bradfield and Weuve 8-0 while Nelson and Anderson beat Hankle and Puppo 8-2. The Phoenix won by default at No. 3 doubles.

The Penguins (0-14 overall and 0-4 in the HL) return to the court on Wednesday when they play at Robert Morris. Green Bay improves to 3-10 and 1-4.
