Sadovnikova Advances to Main Draw at ITA Midwest Regionals

Champaign, Ill. -- Youngstown State junior Margarita Sadovnikova won three singles matches in the qualifying bracket to advance to the Main Draw at the ITA Midwest Regionals. Teammate Marta Burak lost in her final match on Friday.

Sadovnikova knocked off Detroit's Valeriya Kulikouskaya by a score of 6-3, 7-6 on Friday. On Thursday, she earned wins over IPFW's Miloslava Shustova, 6-1, 6-4 and over Eastern Michigan's Nino Mebuke, 6-3, 6-4.

She begins play in the Main Draw of 48 players tomorrow morning.

Burak had a first-round bye before dispatching of IPFW's Caterina Kiefer 6-2, 6-1 on Thursday. On Friday, Burak lost 7-6, 6-2 to DePaul's Rebeca Mitrea.

Doubles action was set to start on Friday afternoon.
