Penguins Fall 4-3 to Unbeaten Southeastern Louisiana
Hammond, La. - The Youngstown State women's tennis team came up just short dropping a 4-3 decision to unbeaten Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Penguins fall to 7-6 with the defeat, however the last three losses have all come by 4-3 scores. The Lions improve to 12-0 on the season, but this first the first contest in which they suffered three defeats.
At No. 1 Paula de Man improved to 11-1 and has now won four straight by defeating Reginka Nychytailova 6-2, 6-3. It was just Nychytailova's second dual loss at No. 1 all season (10-2).
At No. 3, Marta Burak cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Valya Rusakova. Burak improves to 10-3 in dual play while Rusakova lost for just the fourth time all season.
Jesko battled back after dropping the first set to Sarah Kriem, 6-2, to win the second set 6-4 and earn the victory when Kriem retired.
The three Lions who defeated the Penguins are a combined 31-0 in dual action after Tuesday.
SE Louisiana won the first two completed doubles matches to take the point.
YSU concludes its trip to Louisiana with a matchup against Louisiana-Lafayette on Wednesday.
