Burak, Hankle Victorious As Penguins Drop Opener at Toledo

Toledo, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's tennis teams dropped their spring opener falling 5-2 to Toledo at the Toledo Shadow Valley Tennis Club on Saturday night. Lauren Hankle and Marta Burak picked up wins for YSU.

At No. 1 singles, Burak defeated the Rockets' Pia Rygh 6-7 (4), 6-0, 10-4. At No. 2 singles, Hankle won in straight sets over Lext Pitt, 7-5, 6-4. The Rockets won the other four singles matches in straight sets.

In doubles play, Burak and Carolyn Jesko pulled out a hard-fought 8-7 (4) victory at No. 1.

The Penguins (0-1) return to action next Saturday at Bowling Green. Toledo improved to 2-1 with the victory.
