Roberts' Record Leads Penguins in Strong
Performance at Butler

Ind. -- Freshman Samantha
Roberts lowered her school-record in
the 200-yard breaststroke to lead
the Youngstown State swimming and
diving team to a second-place finish
at a five-team meet held at Butler
on Sunday afternoon.
Roberts swam a
time of 2:25.79 in the 200-yard
breaststroke on Sunday. She set the
mark previously on Jan. 8 with a
time of 2:27.31. She also placed
second in the 100 breast with a time
of 1:08.02, which is her personal
best and ranks second in school
history.
Other strong
performances for the Penguins
included: Hilary Barrett placing
second in the 1,650-yard freestyle
with a career-best time of 18:26.21;
a fourth-place finish by Kirstin
Walker in the 200-yard freestyle
with a time of 1:59.21; a
second-place effort by Caitlin Cook
in the 200-yard butterfly with a
time of 2:13.94; a second-place
finish by Nishani Cicilson in the
50-yard freestyle with a time of
24.81 seconds; and a second-place
finish in the 400-yard freestyle
relay with a time of 3:39.05.
Ball State
posted the best team score finishing
with 833 points. YSU was second with
493, Eastern Illinois was third with
375, Valparaiso was fourth at 271
while Butler scored 139 points.
The Penguins
return to action on Saturday, Feb. 6
when they travel to Cleveland to
face Cleveland State and UIC. The
meet is set to start at 1 p.m. |
