Men's Tennis: Penguins Pick Up Doubles Point
Against The Dukes
Pittsburgh, Pa. --
The Youngstown State men's tennis team lost to
Duquesne 6-1 in a Saturday afternoon
match-up. The Penguins were
successful at doubles, but could not
hold the lead in singles play
despite taking three matches to
three games.
Scott Kathary and Tom Barth picked up a win at No. 1
doubles defeating Adam Towsen and
Paul Clough 8-4.
Jason and
Ryan Trapp also won at doubles in
the No. 3 spot beating Micheal
Ortega and Gustavo Villares 8-4.
YSU was able to push the Dukes to
three games at No. 1, No. 2 and No.
5 singles, but were unable to
scratch out a point.
Head Coach Eric
Ronan said that the team started
off strong in doubles.
"The team played well, but Duquesne took advantage of opportunities
to win at singles," said Ronan. "We
are also still working on lineups
for the fall season."
The Penguins will have a week off before they play in
the Valparaiso Fall Classic in
Valparaiso, Ind. on Oct. 6-7. |
