Men's Tennis: Penguins Open Fall Season at St.
Bonaventure Fall Classic
St. Bonaventure, N.Y. --
The Youngstown State men's tennis team opened their
2006 fall season an invitational
hosted by St. Bonaventure on Friday
through Sunday. Other schools
competing in the competition
included Cleveland State, Duquesne
and Niagara
On Saturday afternoon at No 4 singles
Brian Meek defeated St.
Bonaventure's Victor Lecina 6-0, 3-0 ret.
Freshman Maurice Rucker also had a
win for the Penguins in the No. 6
spot on Saturday defeating
Antonio Farias from St. Bonaventure, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
YSU faired well in Sunday's match-ups picking up three wins
at singles. At No. 1 singles Scott Kathary defeated Paul
Clough from Duquesne 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
In the No. 2 spot, Berry College
transfer Diego Cerzosimo beat
Blake Williams, also from Duquesne,
6-4, 5-3 ret. Ryan Trapp
picked up the third win of the day
defeating Steven Steenland from St.
Bonaventure 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 5
slot.
The men's tennis team
will play next on Friday and
Saturday at Toledo. |
