Men's Tennis: Barth and Kathary Pick Up Wins at
Doubles in Weekend Invitational
Toledo, Ohio --
The Youngstown State men's tennis team traveled to
Toledo to take on Denison, Dayton
and the host team, Toledo Rockets,
on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday afternoon at No 3 singles Diego Cerzosimo defeated Dayton's
James O'Connell 0-6, 6-0, 10-8.
Scott Kathary and Tom Barth picked
up wins for the Penguins at doubles
defeating Josh Moran and Tyler
Sonkin 9-7in the No. 1 spot.
Kathary and Barth earned their second win of the day beating
Randy Lofgren and Kevin Newman from
Denison University 8-4.
Jason and
Ryan Trapp were also victorious for
the Penguins on Saturday picking up
an 8-2 win at doubles against Matt
Sherman and David Peyton from
Dayton.
Brian Meek had a win at singles
beating Newman
6-1, 4-6,10-7.
Barth
wrapped up the weekend defeating
Lofgren 4-6, 6-2,10-7.
The Penguins will be back in action on Saturday as they
travel to Pittsburgh to take on
Duquesne at noon. |
