Men's
Tennis Drops Opening League Match to
Cleveland State, 6-1
Boardman, Ohio --
The Youngstown State men's tennis team opened
Horizon League play against
Cleveland State on Friday evening at
the Boardman Tennis Center. Scott
Kathary won his match 6-4, 7-5 at
No. 2 singles in the Penguins 6-1
loss. Kathary also joined teammate
Tom Barth at No. 1 doubles for the
win 8-6 win over Cleveland
State's Ryan Hamning and Phil Orno.
Cleveland State led the singles
competition at the No. 3, 4 and 5
spots while Jason Trapp dropped a
close match to Steven Wipprecht 3-6,
6-3, 8-10 at No. 6.
Despite picking up the win at No. 1
doubles, the Penguins could not hold
on to the lead. Brad Groleski and
Dan Singer beat J. Trapp and Ryan
Trapp 8-4 and Rob West and Steven
Wipprecht defeated Brian Meek and
Diego Cerzosimo 8-6.
The men's tennis team will play again tomorrow afternoon
on the road against Toledo at 1 p.m. |
