Ismail Wins
Second Consecutive Match to Open
Season as YSU Falls to UMBC
Pittsburgh, Pa. --
The
Youngstown State men's tennis team
dropped a 6-1 dual to
Maryland-Baltimore County on Sunday
at the Club 4 Life in Pittsburgh.
Sophomore Tariq Ismail continued his
strong start to the spring season
earning a win over UMBC's Chris
Meyer. For the second straight
match, Ismail dropped the opening
set (3-6) before rallying to win the
second set, 6-3, along with the
tiebreaker (10-3).
Newcomer Felipe Rosa dropped a tough
match to Fredi Voorman losing the
second set in a tiebreaker. YSU lost
at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles as
well.
The Penguins return to action on
Jan. 31 when they play host to
Xavier at the Boardman Tennis
Center.
