Gillespie, Frontz, Davis Break Records at Kent State
Tune-Up
Kent, Ohio --
Aaliyah Gillespie set the school
record in the 55-meter hurdles while
Lindsay Frontz broke the 800-meter
run record and Jarrod Davis topped
his own record in the weight throw
at the Kent State Tune-Up on
Saturday Afternoon.
Gillespie's record-setting time of 8.12 in the 55 hurdles was
good enough for second place while
Frontz finished 10th with a time of
2:15.31and Davis threw 50-3 1/2 for
fifth place.
In the women's sprints, Gillespie placed tenth in the 200
while Leslie Johnson and Lori
Patrone finished sixth and tenth,
respectively, in the 400.
In the field events, Lissette Alamo earned two place finishes
in the long jump (17-11 1/2) and the
triple jump (34-10 1/4).
Delores Gaines placed third in both
the shot put (42-8 3/4) and the
weight throw (51-7 3/4). Also
in the weight throw, Danielle Sexton
placed sixth with a heave of 45-0
1/4 and Katy Williams finished
ninth.
On the men's side, Tony Orcena finished eighth in the mile
with a time of 4:24.57 while Nick
Buzek placed 10th with a 4:24.76.
Nick Smith ran a time of 1:53.29 to
place fourth in the 800.
In the field, Edwin Jackson placed ninth in the long jump
with a distance of 20-11 3/4 while
Nick Roberts finished 11th in the
shot put in his first meet with a
throw of 47-7.
The Penguins will travel to Milwaukee on Saturday to compete
in the Horizon League Championships. |
