Freeman's 55m Hurdles Victory Highlights Tune-Up Meet
Kent, Ohio -- Youngstown State senior
Satara Freeman won the 55-meter
hurdles and Katie Betts won the
200-meter dash with two of 31
personal-best marks set over the
weekend at the Kent State Tune-Up.
Freeman missed the school record by four hundredths of a
second with a time of 8.06 seconds
to edge out YSU freshmen Jen Grayson
(8.42) in second and sophomore
Yandeh Joh (8.50) in fourth. Betts
ran a time of 24.75 to win the 200m
and move into second-place on YSU's
all-time list.
The meet was the final preparation before the Penguins
compete in the Horizon League
Championships this weekend at the
Kent State Field House. YSU is
serving as the host of the meet,
which will begin Saturday at 9 a.m.
Damian Wright highlighted the men's squad with a
personal-best time of 22.08 in the
200m to place second and 6.45 in the
55m dash to place third. Jeremiah
Wright added a sixth-place finish in
the 55m (6.54).
R.D. Goodright headlined the middle-distance with a
personal-best time of 1:54.14 in the
800m to place fifth. J.D. Sheppard
finished one spot back with a time
of 1:54.34. Jarrod Davis placed
fifth in the weight throw (60-5)
while Drew Weizer was seventh (54-8)
and Joe Lahmon was eighth (54-7
1/2).
Bethany Anderson added a third-place finish in the shot put
with a mark of 45-4 1/4. |
