Jan. 17, 2006 Bethany Anderson
Named Horizon League Track Athlete
of the Week
Indianapolis -- Youngstown State
junior Bethany Anderson (Jamestown,
N.Y.) was named the Horizon League
Women's Track and Field Athlete of
the Week after setting the school
record in the weight throw last
week, the league announced Wednesday
afternoon.
Anderson posted a mark of 58-8 3/4 to eclipse her previous
school record by four inches at the
Doug Raymond Open on Saturday. It
was YSU's first meet of 2007 and the
first of six held in Northeast Ohio
during the indoor season.
This is the first weekly honor for Anderson in her three-year
career. She is a six-time Horizon
League Champion and owns four school
records, and she is the reigning
Horizon League Outstanding Field
Performer in outdoor. Anderson
currently tops the Horizon League's
top performers chart in both the
shot put and the weight throw.
YSU sophomore Shayne York was also recognized as a top
performer of the week by the league
after posting personal-best marks in
the long jump and triple jump at the
Doug Raymond Open.
Anderson and the women's squad will compete at Kent State
Friday evening while the men's team
will travel to Baldwin Wallace. |
