Schnitkey Qualifies for Mideast Regional in Steeplechase
Atlanta -- Youngstown State
sophomore Emily Schnitkey qualified
for the NCAA Mideast Regional in the
3,000-meter steeplechase as she ran
a school-record time of 10 minutes,
45.69 seconds at the Georgia Tech
Invitational Friday evening.
Schnitkey blew away her previous record by 12 seconds and
became just the second athlete in
YSU history to make it to the
Regional meet by topping the
qualifying time.
"Emily really stepped up and gave it her all today," Head
Coach Brian Gorby said. "She
had an outstanding race and to beat
her record by 12 seconds is a big
accomplishment."
The Mideast Regional will be May 28-29 in Baton Rouge, La. |
