Schnitkey Sets Steeplechase Record at Sea Ray Relays
Knoxville, Tenn. -- Emily Schnitkey
set the 3,000-meter steeplechase
record with an eighth-place time of
10 minutes, 57.88 seconds at the
University of Tennessee's Sea Ray
Relays on Saturday.
Schnitkey's time was also just .7 seconds shy of the NCAA
Regional qualifying mark of
10:57.18.
Kurt Michaelis also nearly missed the Regional qualifying
time as he ran a season-best time of
3:50.21 in the 1,500-meters to place
sixth. The Regional standard
is 3:48.21.
Also at the relays, Lisa Davies finished ninth in the
5,000-meters in a personal-best
17:48.55 while Katy Williams threw a
personal-best 146 feet, 1 inch in
the discus to place 11th.
The women's 4x400-meter relay group of Aaliyah Gillespie,
Jeanna Cunningham, Danielle Bolt and
Leslie Johnson added a 16th-place
finish in 3:49.48, just 1.49 seconds
behind the school-record mark. |
