Cunningham Breaks 400-Meters Record at
Campbell/Wright Open

Youngstown State junior Jeanna
Cunningham set the school record in
the 400-meter dash with a
first-place time of 55.28 seconds at
the University of Akron's
Campbell/Wright Open this weekend.
Cunningham also ran a season-best time of 24.81 in the 200 to
place sixth in YSU's final meet
before the Horizon League
Championship.
Bethany Anderson also set a school record at the meet,
breaking her mark in the shot put
with a heave of 45-10 1/2 to place
fifth.
Also in the 400, Leslie Johnson placed eight with a time of
57.05 while Emily Wollet finished
eighth with a time of 58.18. Satara
Freeman and Aaliyah Gillespie placed
third and fourth in the 100 hurdles
with times of 14.56 and 14.62,
respectively. Ashley Oliver placed
sixth in the 100 (12.73) and
Marielle Glanz finished eighth in
the 800 in 2:18.03.
Katy Williams placed sixth in the discus with a mark of 138-8
while Amy Hill placed eighth in the
hammer (159-10), ninth in the discus
(134-4) and 11th in the javelin
(111-10).
R.D. Goodright highlighted the men's performances with a time
of 4:08.47 in the 1,500 while Tyler
Barga placed seventh in 4:11.72. Joe
Lahmon finished 11gh in the hammer
with a mark of 152-5.
Laura Schatz finished fourth in the high jump at the Jesse
Owens Track Classic at Ohio State
with a mark of 5-5.
The Penguins will compete in the Horizon League Championship
beginning Thursday in Indianapolis.
The women's team will be looking to
win it's second-straight outdoor
crown and fourth-straight overall
