Youlton Places 13th at Pan American Junior
Championships

Youngstown State sophomore Carly
Youlton placed 13th in the long jump
with a mark of 17-11 1/4 at the Pan
American Junior Championships on
July 30.
Youlton, a native of Chatham, Ontario, competed for team
Canada in the international
competition that featured teams from
45 nations.
Canada finished second in total metals with 18 (two gold,
five silver, 11 bronze). The United
States finished with 57 metals, 22
of which were gold.
Bermuda's Arantxa King won the long jump with a mark of 20-4
1/2.
In her freshman year at YSU, Youlton was named the Field
Performer of the Meet at the Horizon
League Indoor Track and Field
Championships by winning the long
jump with a mark of 18 feet, 4 1/4
inches and the triple jump with a
mark of 36-5 3/4. She broke two
school records at the outdoor
conference meet, placing second in
the triple jump with a mark of 38-6
and third in the long jump with a
mark of 18-6. |
