Penguins Host Horizon League Leader Cleveland State on Friday
     Youngstown -- The Youngstown State volleyball team (7-15, 0-9 Horizon League) continues its homestand against Horizon League leader Cleveland State at the Beeghly Center on Friday evening, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m.

Youngtown State closes out its eight-match homestand against UW-Milwaukee on Friday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. and UW-Green Bay, Saturday, Nov. 5, at 4 p.m.

About Cleveland State
The Cleveland State Vikings currently own an overall mark of 15-6 and are tied for the lead in the Horizon League standings with a 7-2 league mark. The Vikings are tied with UW-Milwaukee. Leading the Vikings is Nickole Kennedy with 4.01 kills per game and a .335 hitting percentage, which leads the league. Danielle Siefker is also having a solid season for the Vikings with 2.83 kills and 1.24 blocks per game.

Pasquinelli Moves Into Second
With 74 assists last week, senior setter Angie Pasquinelli moved into second place on the YSU all-time assists list with 3,730 career assists. She also needs just 270 more to become the second player in school history.

Ettenhofer Fourth in Hitting Percentage
Senior Abby Ettenhofer continues to be one of the Penguins top offensive threats this season. Currently, she ranks fourth in the Horizon League with a .295 hitting percentage. Ettenhofer is also second on the squad with 2.98 kills per game.

Shea In League Top 10
Youngstown State senior Katie Shea has been a valuable commodity in the middle for the Penguins. Shea currently leads the team and ranks 10th in the Horizon League with 1.00 blocks per game.

Pasquinelli Double-Double Streak at 6
Not only has senior Angie Pasquinelli been racking up the assists, she has been playing pretty solid defense as well. Pasquinelli has recorded a double-double in the last six matches and has tallied 12 double-doubles this season.

Leslie 10th in Kills, Digs Per Game
Junior Cari Leslie has been an offensive spark for the Penguins all season long. The 5-foot-8 outside hitter leads the Penguins with 253 kills and ranks 10th in the Horizon League with 3.09 kills per game. She also boasts 273 digs and ranks 10th in the Horizon League with 3.33 digs per contest.


Leslie Double-Double Mark at 12
Youngstown State junior Cari Leslie is displaying why she may be one of the best all-around players in the Horizon League. Leslie, who leads the team with 3.28 kills per game, has recorded 12 double-doubles this season.

Obonna Nets Career High
Junior Tracy Obonna stepped up for the Penguins in their four-game loss to Big East member West Virginia. The 5-foot-7 outside hitter tallied a career-high 13 kills and also recorded four blocks, including three solo blocks.

Penguins Lead League in Digs
The Youngstown State volleyball team continues to be the top defensive squad in the Horizon League. The Penguins lead the circuit with 17.82 digs per game.

Cindric Fifth in League
Youngstown State junior Amanda Cindric has been one of the top defensive players in the Horizon League all season. Cindric ranks fifth in the Horizon League with 4.07 digs per game.

Pasquinelli Tough on Serve
Senior Angie Pasquinelli has been tough on opponents when serving. The 5-foot-7 setter ranks sixth in the Horizon League with 0.34 service aces per game.

Leslie, Cindric Named All-Tournament
In helping the Penguins to a 2-2 mark at the Helping Hands Classic at Murray State, junior Cari Leslie was named the tournament’s co-Most Valuable Player after averaging 3.85 kills and 2.85 digs per game with a .261 hitting percentage. Classmate Amada Cindric was also named to the all-tournament team averaging 4.54 digs per game that weekend.

Cindric Tabbed Defensive POW
After tallying 71 kills in three matches during the first weekend of volleyball, YSU junior Amanda Cindric was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week. The 5-foot-7 defensive specialist averaged 5.46 digs per game. She also recorded a career-high 30 digs against Canisius and 28 against Robert Morris.

Fraley, Leslie Named All-Tournament
Youngstown State sophomore Jessica Fraley and junior Cari Leslie made quite an impression on the coaches at the Akron Early Bird Invitational. Both were selected to the all-tournament team for their outstanding performances. Fraley averaged 4.46 kills and 3.23 digs per game while hitting .307 while Leslie tallied 3.54 kills and 4.62 digs per game.

Bonner Takes Over Reigns
Youngstown State Head Coach Joe Bonner is the seventh volleyball head coach in school history after being selected to take over for former Head Coach Joe Conroy. Bonner spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Dayton and spent three years as an assistant coach at Robert Morris. Bonner, who is now 7-15 at YSU, helped the Flyers to a two-year mark of 49-16, including a 23-9 overall ledger in 2004, and two straight trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Fraley Sets Single Match Kill Mark
Sophomore Jessica Fraley etched her name into the Youngstown State record books by toppling a seven-year-old record. The 6-foot-1 outside hitter slammed 31 kills against Canisius to set the YSU single-match kills mark. The old record was set by Amy Hermann, who twice recorded 30 kills during the 1998 campaign.

Pasquinelli Breaks Own Mark
Besides reaching the 3,000 assists milestone, senior setter Angie Pasquinelli broke her own single-match assists record. The 5-foot-7 native of Toledo, Ohio, dished out a school-record 86 assists against Canisius, topping her own record of 76 set in 2002 against Robert Morris.
