Boscaljon Named AVCA Honorable Mention All-Region
Youngstown -- Youngstown State senior Ruth Boscaljon has been named Honorable Mention All-Midwest Region honors by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Boscaljon, a middle blocker from Elgin, Ill., had 348 kills
and 126 blocks in her senior season to also earn All-Horizon League honors. She
averaged career-bests with 3.31 kills and 1.20 blocks per set, and she ranked
among the top five nationally in solo blocks.
Boscaljon was the Horizon League leader in blocks for the second straight
season, and she finished the year ranking second in points (4.32 per set) and
hitting percentage (.318). She led YSU in kills in 23 out of 28 matches, and she
was the Penguins' top blocker 20 times. Boscaljon finished with at least 10
kills in 22 different matches.
The solid senior season wrapped an overall remarkable career for Boscaljon. She posted 1,340 kills and 490 total blocks during her four years, and her .301 career hitting percentage is the best in school history. She also ranks second in career blocks and third in career kills.
