Krista Burrows to Lead Volleyball's Resurgence as Head Coach

Youngstown -- Krista Burrows, one of the top young coaches in the NAIA, has been charged with leading the Youngstown State volleyball program to regional and national heights similar to those she enjoyed at Walsh University.
Burrows, the eighth head coach in YSU school history, helped Walsh average more than 27 wins in her six seasons as the head coach on the campus in North Canton, Ohio. The Cavaliers finished in the top 25 nationally three times in her tenure and advanced to the NAIA Tournament the last two seasons. Release

Ruth Boscaljon Named AVCA Honorable Mention All-Region

		Youngstown -- Youngstown State senior Ruth Boscaljon has been named Honorable Mention All-Midwest Region honors by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Boscaljon, a middle blocker from Elgin, Ill., had 348 kills and 126 blocks in her senior season to also earn All-Horizon League honors. Release

Hubbard's Carlisle, Hundelt Sign NLIs to Play Volleyball at YSU

		Youngstown -- Hubbard High senior Jackie Carlisle and Missy Hundelt (St. Louis, Mo.) have signed a National Letter of Intent to continue their academic and volleyball careers at Youngstown State University. Both players are outside hitters who twice earned all-state recognition in their high school careers. Release

Boscaljon, Roidt Earn Horizon League Postseason Honors

		Youngstown -- Youngstown State senior Ruth Boscaljon and freshman Angela Roidt have been honored by the Horizon League for their outstanding 2009 volleyball season. Boscaljon was named All-Horizon League for the second time in her career. Roidt is one of five Penguins in school history to earn Horizon League All-Newcomer Team. Release

Boscaljon Gets 18 Kills as Guins' Season Ends at Wright State

		Dayton, Ohio -- Senior Ruth Boscaljon had a match-high 18 kills in her last collegiate match to end a memorable career as the Youngstown State volleyball team lost in four sets to Wright State on Saturday afternoon. The loss ends YSU's season as the Penguins can do no better than tie for sixth in the final Horizon League standings. Release
