Schnitkey Places 12th at Spiked Shoe Invite
    State College, Pa. -- Junior Emily Schnitkey finished 12th with a time of 22:46 in her first cross country race in nearly two years as the Youngstown State cross country teams competed at the Spiked Shoe Invitational on Saturday.
    Schnitkey, who missed all of last season due to a nagging leg injury, led the women's team to a seventh-place finish in the 17-team 6K competition.
    Sophomore Kim Jendre finished second for the team and 34th overall in 23:25 while classmate Lisa Davies finished 40th in 23:30.  Senior Lindsay Wojciak placed 52nd in 23:58, and Marielle Glanz rounded out the scorers with a 64th-place time of 24:23.
    The men's team was plagued by injuries and settled for a 14th-place finish in the 5.2 mile course.  Senior Jeremy Riehm placed 46th with a time of 27:05.88 to lead the men while fellow senior Matt Paullin placed 59th in 27:24.15.  Junior Dave Mealy finished 78th with a time of 27:48.63 while freshman R.D. Goodright finished 127th in 28:49.72.  Freshman John Sheppard rounded out the top five with a 136th-place finish of 29:04.59.
    The Penguins are next in action on Saturday when they will travel to Toledo, Ohio, for the Central Collegiate Championship.
