Youngstown State swept the Horizon League's Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Month awards for February as senior women's basketball player Brandi Brown and junior baseball player Drew Dosch taking the honors.
It is the third honor of the academic year for Brown, who also won in November and December. Brown garnered 55.6 percent of the February voting, while Dosch received 88.9 percent.
During February, Brown was voted First-Team Academic All-American and averaged 21.6 points. She posted two 30-point games, including a 39-point effort against UIC, and registered five double-doubles. Brown carries a 3.75 GPA in communications.
In eight games in February, Dosch hit .429 with six doubles, a triple and a home run. He posted five multi-hit games while scoring six runs and driving in three. With his help, the Penguins defeated West Virginia in the program's first-ever win over a Big 12 school. Dosch is an Integrated Social Studies Education major with a 3.96 GPA.
