Jake Tuura is an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coordinator at Youngstown State. Tuura's primary sport responsibilities are women's basketball, soccer, swimming and diving and men's and women's golf. He will also assist in the day-to-day operations of the strength and conditioning program.
Prior to joining the YSU staff in June 2017, he spent a year as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Minnesota-Duluth. At UM-Duluth he served as the head strength and conditioning coordinator for the baseball and women's tennis programs. He also assisted with the football, men's basketball, volleyball, softball and track and field teams.
Tuura spent the 2015-16 campaign as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach at Wisconsin-Superior. He developed the offseason program for the men's basketball team while working with the women's program for the entire season. He also worked with the track and field throwers and the softball team during the year.
In the summer of 2015, he interned at the University of Minnesota, assisting head strength and conditioning coordinator Cal Dietz. Tuura worked with multiple programs during offseason drills as well as former Gophers who returned to workout at the UM facility.
Tuura earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from UW-Superior in 2014. He received his Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology from The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth in 2015.
