FLIGHT

It could be argued that just as "impossible" as it is for Penguins to fly, it is equally impossible for student-athletes to achieve high levels of wellness, become engaged in the campus community and develop their identity based on more than their performance and participation in athletics. With this challenge in mind, "The Flight" program has been designed specifically to encourage incoming student-athletes to go above and beyond athletic demands and focus on overall wellness and growth. All student-athletes will complete an orientation, monthly wellness workshops and participate in the annual Penguinfest event.

The Flight program is designed to bring together students with similar goals and interests, enabling them to build connections in and out of the classroom. Students live in a common area, enroll in classes together and participate in activities, which provide opportunities to grow and learn beyond the classroom or the athletic field.

Common Topics Include:

  • U.S. Marines Leadership Training
  • NCAA DISC Assessment
  • Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention
  • Nutrition
  • Tunnel of Oppression Diversity Training
  • Social Media and Personal Branding
  • Personal Goals Workshop
