Dayton, Ohio -- Heavy rain showers overnight and continuing throughout the day have forced all of Thursday's games at the Horizon League Baseball Championship to be postponed until Friday.
No. 6 Youngstown State will now play No. 1 Wright State at 5 p.m. on Friday as part of four games on the schedule. Leading up to YSU's game, Butler and Milwaukee will play an elimination game at 10 a.m. and Valparaiso and UIC will play a winners' bracket game at 1:30 p.m. There will be another elimination game at 8:30 p.m. between the winner of Butler and Milwaukee and a to-be-determined opponent, which could end up being YSU.
There are conditions in the bracket that complicate it. If Youngstown State defeats Wright State on Friday evening, it will advance to play in the winners' bracket final at 3:05 p.m. on Saturday. However, a YSU loss coupled with a Valparaiso loss means the Penguins will be in the elimination game at 8:30 p.m. on Friday night. However, if Valparaiso beats UIC in the game played at 1:30 p.m., YSU is assured of not playing in the 8:30 p.m. elimination game by virtue of UIC receiving a first-round bye. If UIC and YSU lose, the Penguins will play an elimination game on Saturday at 11 a.m.
