Youngstown State junior third baseman Drew Dosch has been named the Horizon League Batter of the Week for the period ending April 21, the conference office announced on Monday.

Dosch, a native of Canal Winchester, Ohio, batted .458 with a homer, eight runs scored and six RBIs in YSU's five games last week. He had hits in all five games and registered multiple hits in three of them. The Horizon League Preseason Player of the Year was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored in YSU's 13-4 win over Toledo on Wednesday, and he was 4-for-5 with three runs scored in the Penguins' 12-7 victory over UIC on Saturday. Dosch hit a two-run homer in the first inning against the Flames on Friday.

Dosch leads the Horizon League in hits, runs scored, doubles and walks. The third baseman also ranks second in on-base percentage, fifth in runs batted in and tied-for-fifth in home runs.

Dosch is the third Youngstown State player to earn Horizon League Batter-of-the-Week honors this month, joining Marcus Heath (April 1) and Phil Lipari (April 8).

Dosch and the Penguins will play four games this week. Youngstown State will play two seven-inning games at Kent State on Tuesday starting at 4 p.m., and it will host West Virginia at Eastwood Field on Wednesday at 6 p.m. YSU's lone game this weekend will be at 3 p.m. at Cene Park on Friday against Alderson-Broaddus.
