The White Team scored seven runs in the second inning and six more in the third in a 21-6 defeat of the Red Team in game of the Youngstown State Baseball Red-White Series on Friday at Eastwood Field.
Kevin Hix had two hits, drove in four runs and scored twice for the winning squad. Drew Dosch plated three runs and had two hits, and Logan Brown scored four times. All 10 hitters for the White Team scored at least once, and eight of them had multiple hits.
Marcus Heath hit the game’s lone home run, a two-run shot for the Red Team in the fourth inning. Those were the only two runs that White starter Blake Aquadro surrendered in his four innings of work. Jason Shirley led all players with three hits, and Neil Schroth and Josh White both added two hits for the Red.
The Penguins will play game two of their series Friday at 2:30 p.m., and the finale will be Saturday at 10 a.m. The baseball staff will then host a Showcase Camp at Eastwood Field on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration for the camp will start at 9 a.m. For more information on the camp, log on to penguinscamps.com.
