The Youngstown State baseball team will be the No. 6 seed in the 2014 Horizon League Tournament that begins on Wednesday at Kapco Park in Mequon, Wis.

The Penguins, who finished the regular season with a 12-36 overall record and a 6-17 mark in Horizon League play, will play the third-seeded Valparaiso Crusaders at 4 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday.

The fourth seed and host Milwaukee Panthers will open the tournament at noon Eastern against the fifth-seeded Oakland Golden Grizzlies. Wright State won the regular season crown with a 25-4 league mark and will be the tournament's top seed. UIC, which finished 17-13 in league play, is the second seed. If YSU defeats Valparaiso on Wednesday, it will play Wright State on Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern. A YSU loss in the opening round would put it in an elimination game on Thursday at Noon Eastern.

It is a double-elimination tournament with the championship game scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern on Saturday. If the team that advanced to the championship game from the losing bracket wins that game, the two teams will play again at noon Eastern on Sunday.

The winner of the Horizon League tournament receives the conference's bid into the NCAA Tournament.

All tournament games will be shown on the Horizon League Network.
