The Youngstown State baseball team is set to take on Milwaukee in its 2014 Horizon League and home opener this weekend at Eastwood Field. Game one of the series is scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m., and games are set to follow on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at noon. Live video on the Horizon League Network and live stats will be available throughout the weekend.

Any weather-related schedule changes will be announced first on Twitter @YSUsports, through text alerts (sign up here) and push notifications on the YSU Front Row App.

The Penguins have already had two series wiped out due to weather in the first five weeks of the season, including last week's three-game set at Oakland that was supposed to open Horizon League play. YSU also had its game at Kent State on Wednesday called after five-and-a-half innings due to rain. All 16 of YSU's games so far this season have been on the road or at neutral sites.

Senior right-hander Patrick O'Brien is scheduled to start the series opener, and he's set to be followed by junior right-hander Brendon Shoemake. O'Brien was the winning pitcher in the victory over Appalachian State on Feb. 28, and he's 1-2 with a 5.19 ERA in 17.1 innings for the year. Shoemake is 0-2, and one of those losses was a 1-0 setback at Cincinnati on March 8. He has a 3.60 ERA as a starter. Sunday's YSU starter has not been announced. Milwaukee is scheduled to counter with right-handers Brian Keller (0-2, 4.15 ERA), Cody Peterson (2-0, 3.78 ERA) and Gunnar Eastman (1-1, 5.40 ERA).

Freshman Alex Larivee has been the Penguins' top hitter with a .378 average and a .440 on-base percentage. He had hit safely in 12 straight contests before going 0-for-2 at Kent State on Wednesday, and he's reached base in 13 consecutive games. Senior outfielder David Saluga is hitting .400 in 20 at bats, and starters Brent Gillespie, Phil Lipari, Shane Willoughby and Josh White are all hitting at least .269.

After this weekend, Youngstown State will head back on the road to play at Ohio on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
