The Youngstown State baseball team lost a slugfest at Wright State for the second straight day, losing 16-11 to the Raiders on Saturday evening at Nischwitz Stadium.
Kevin Hix hit a grand slam in YSU's six-run eighth inning, and eight different Penguins combined for 11 hits. Wright State's first two batters, Michael Timm and Jeff Limbaugh, accounted for seven hits and five doubles.
Wright State scored the first seven runs of the game and led 7-0 after four innings. The Penguins scored four runs in the top of the fifth to get back in the game, but Wright State answered with three runs in the bottom half to take a 10-4 advantage. The Raiders added six runs in the sixth to go up 16-4.
Hix hit a sacrifice fly to plate Matt Sullivan in the seventh, and his gtandy slam in the eighth brought in Brent Gillespie, Sullivan and Jason Shirley. Sullivan and Gillespie also had RBIs on the inning as YSU climbed to within five runs.
The Penguins and Raiders will conclude their series on Sunday at 1 p.m,
