Carlos Baerga, Justin Thomas Will Speak at 2017 YSU First Pitch Breakfast

Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame infielder Carlos Baerga will be the featured speaker at the 2017 Youngstown State Baseball First Pitch Breakfast, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, at The Embassy in Boardman. He will be joined by former Penguins standout and Major League Baseball pitcher Justin Thomas.

The event will also provide fans the opportunity to meet the 2017 Penguins baseball squad, enjoy a breakfast buffet and bid in live and silent auctions on an impressive lineup of Major League Baseball memorabilia, unique baseball experiences and YSU baseball gear.

General admission tickets are $20 apiece, and reserved seats are $30 each. Corporate and family tables are also available for $500 and include 10 breakfast/raffle tickets, premium seating at the First Pitch Breakfast, sponsor recognition on and two guests to join the speakers and the YSU baseball staff for dinner on Friday, Feb. 10 at Michael Alberini's in Boardman.

Premium Reserved tables are also available for $300, which will guarantee priority seating for 10 people to hear one of the all-time great Cleveland Indians share his experiences.

Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. with the buffet beginning at 8:30 and the program commencing at 9.

Baerga played for the Indians from 1990-96 and again in 1999, and he was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame in 2013. He was a three-time All-Star and won to Silver Slugger Awards while with the Indians. He played second base and batted third on the Indians' 1995 team that played in the World Series.

Thomas won 19 games in his Penguins career and was the Horizon League Pitcher of the Year in 2005. He was a fourth-round draft pick by the Seattle Mariners in 2005, and he went on to pitch in the Majors with Mariners, Pirates, Redsox and Yankees. Thomas also spent time pitching professionally in Japan and Taiwan. He was inducted into the Youngstown State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015.

Tickets will be on sale at the Beeghly Center merchandise booth during YSU men's and women's basketball games.
