The Youngstown State baseball program will host an Elite Instructional Camp in January and give young players a chance to practice with the Penguins in February.
The Elite Instructional Camp will be held on Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Watson and Tressel Training Site on campus. There will be two separate sessions at the event – one for pitchers and catchers and another for infielders. Both camps are open to players in grades 7-12 as well as junior college players. The cost of one session is $50, and campers can attend both for $90. Family members of Youngstown State faculty and staff can receive a $20 discount, and there is also a discount available for siblings.
The pitchers and catchers session will be from 9 a.m. through 11:30 a.m., and there will be instruction taught by YSU pitching coach Josh Merrigan and catching coach Ryan Krokos. Campers will be involved in a series of high-level drills and techniques that will help them excel at the next level. The infielders camp will go from noon-2 p.m., and YSU head coach Dan Bertolini will be the instructor. Campers will be involved in defensive drills that will help expand their knowledge and skills in the infield.
The Practice With The Penguins camp will be held on Sunday, Feb. 11, at the Watson and Tressel Training Site. The event will cover basic skills and techniques, and it will give campers the chance to do the same drills done by YSU baseball players in their practices. Age-specific drills will also be incorporated. Check-in is at 12:30 p.m., and the event will last from 1-3 p.m., and there will be no cost.
For more information on the camps, contact Coach Krokos at email@example.com.
All YSU camps are open to any and all participants, limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender as required by NCAA rules.
