Four Youngstown State baseball players had an opportunity to showcase their skills in all-star game activities for three summer leagues over the previous week.
Pitcher Collin Floyd pitched a scoreless inning for the North Division in the 2017 Northwoods League All-Star game that was held in Wausau, Wis., on Tuesday. Floyd leads the Northwoods League with 36 strikeouts in 46.2 innings for the Mankato MoonDogs. The junior left-hander is 4-0 in his seven starts and boasts a 2.70 ERA.
Kyle Benyo was a selection for the Northwoods League Home Run Derby for the South Division. Benyo, a rising junior outfielder at Youngstown State, has four home runs and 10 doubles in 33 games for the Green Bay Bullfrogs.
Trey Bridis participated in the Prospect League All-Star Showcase in Kokomo, Ind. The rising senior outfielder is batting .288 with a .404 on-base percentage, 11 extra base hits and 10 steals in 42 games for the Lafayette Aviators.
Alex Bellardini was named to the all-star team in the Perfect Game League. In seven starts for the Geneva Red Wings, the right-hander has a 4-1 record with a 2.43 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 48 innings.
