The Youngstown State football team was in full pads during the morning session and worked out in just helmets in the afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium in preparation for Saturday's first major scrimmage of the fall.
YSU took the field at 8 a.m. for the first workout of the day. The Penguins worked out for just over two hours during intermittent rain showers.
For the second time this fall camp, the Guins were forced inside in the middle of an afternoon workout. After spending 50-plus minutes outdoors, lightning forced the team to hustle to the WATTS. The team arrived before the heavy rain fell and the only ones to get wet were members of the video crew who were hustling over to the building from Stambaugh Stadium. With the help of the indoor facility, the Penguins finished the workout with another 40 minutes of practice. For the second time the rain concluded just as practice wrapped up.
Saturday's practice is set to begin at 10 a.m. with the scrimmage getting underway at approximately 10:30. YSU will return to practice on Monday with two workouts. Admission to the scrimmage is free.
Season tickets for the upcoming campaign are on sale now by calling the YSU Athletic Ticket Office at (330) 941-1978.
