St. Louis, Mo. -- Youngstown State redshirt freshman Andre Stubbs was recognized as the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Offensive Player of the Week for his standout performance in the Penguins' 31-17 win over Pittsburgh last night.

Stubbs rushed for 71 yards on six carries, caught four passes for 61 yards and had two kickoff returns for 40 yards. He caught a 27-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and ran for a 13-yard score in the fourth. He finished with 172 all-purpose yards on the evening. The win against Pitt marked the league's first-ever victory against a Big East Conference foe.

It marked the first rushing and first receiving scores of his YSU career.

Stubbs played in three games last season before being sidelined for the year with an injury. He had one reception in 2011.

UNI's Garrett Scott was the Defensive Player of the Week, Western Illinois' Pat Smith was the Special Teams Player of the Week and UNI quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen was the Newcomer of the Week.
