Full Slate of Promotions Set for Upcoming Football Campaign

Three non-conference games, three 2012 postseason foes during the home conference and a plethora of promotions and pregame concerts and events highlight the seven-game home schedule for the YSU football program..

Giveaways this fall for our great fans included schedule magnets, rulers, key chains, license plate holders, cups and team photos.

Season tickets are on sale now by calling the YSU Athletic Ticket Office at (330) 941-1978. General admission seats start at under $12 a game. For hospitality tent details call the Athletic Marketing Department at (330) 941-7227. Single-game tickets go on sale Thursday, Aug. 1.

The Penguins open the season with their first Thursday night home opener in seven years against Dayton on Aug. 29. All fans will receive a schedule magnet courtesy of WKBN 27 First News, Coca-Cola and State Farm. The Warren G. Harding High School Marching Band will perform at halftime along with the YSU Marching Pride.

The season's second game against Morehead State (Sept. 7) features the first State Farm Kids Day of the campaign. Kids Day starts at 1 p.m. in the M-7 Penguin Party Lot. The Lead Belly Boys Band will also be performing at 1 o'clock in the F-7 Lot that afternoon. Fans in attendance will receive a ruler courtesy of Walgreens, State Farm and WKBN 27 First News. At halftime, the Bay Village High School Marching Band will perform along with the YSU Marching Pride.

YSU concludes the non-conference portion of the schedule playing host to Duquesne for the first time in school history. Both the F-7 and M-24 Tailgate lots will be in full swing for the Penguins' first-ever contest with the Dukes. The second of the State Farm Kids Days starts at 1 p.m. in the F-7 Lot as does a pregame concert by Tongue and Groove Band. Fans in attendance will receive a key chain courtesy of Medical Mutual of Ohio and WKBN 27 First News. In the M-24 Lot nearest the Stadium, the popular Gia Russa "Taste of Italy" begins at 1 p.m. Joining the YSU Marching Pride at halftime is the Lowellville High School Marching Band.

The Penguins' conference home opener is a primetime tilt against Illinois State, a 2012 playoff participant. The 7 p.m. kickoff marks the Guins' first home game of October at Stambaugh Stadium. In the F-7 tailgate lot, The Lead Belly Boys are back for second time holding a pregame concert at 4 p.m. Around the Stadium will be the annual YSU/Car Coach Display Day. The YSU Football Alumni will hold its annual Tailgate Party in the F-7 lot prior to the evening contest. Fans in attendance will receive a License Plate Holder courtesy of Farmers National Bank, McDonald's and 21 WFMJ.

The Oct. 19 game is the annual Homecoming contest as the Penguins take on Western Illinois. Guys Without Ties will hold a pregame concert in the F-7 tailgate area at 1 p.m. The annual Homecoming Parade will be on Fifth Avenue next to the Stadium beginning at 2 o'clock. Fans in attendance will receive a Stadium Cup courtesy of Lyden Oil, 21 WFMJ and Handel's Ice Cream.

After two road games in November, the Penguins close out the campaign with contests against North Dakota State and South Dakota State, both 2012 playoff participants.

The Nov. 16 contest against the two-time defending FCS Bison is also Hall of Fame weekend for Youngstown State. The morning of the game features the Hall of Fame induction speeches at YSU's Kilcawley Center. The seven-member class will be announced in the near future. Fans in attendance for the 2 p.m. contest will receive a team picture courtesy of Bottom Dollar, WBCB "The CW" and Coca-Cola.

The Nov. 23 regular-season finale will be a clash against the Jackrabbits. Members of the YSU Football Alumni Group will cheer the Penguins on as the seniors run onto the field. Prior to the game, the members of the Guins' senior class will be honored along with their parents.
