The Youngstown State football team turned practice up a notch with the addition of full pads to their fall workouts. The Penguins went at it for just over two hours on Tuesday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.

YSU went through a strong workout that saw all the units get reps during individual and team sessions.

Highlighting the team session was a strong de-cleating block by wide receiver Michael Callender on cornerback Nate Dortch. As Jody Webb hauled in an underthrown toss, he turned on the jets and Callender's block near the 40 sprang Webb for a near score.

YSU went through some red zone snaps with all quarterbacks getting a chance. Hunter Wells found Andre Stubbs in the back corner of the end zone for a score while Ricky Davis had a nice scramble that would have found paydirt. Junior QB Dante Nania continued a strong camp by guiding the No. 1 offense.

The workout ended with third-down situations - third-and-five and third-and-10. The offense was able to convert a pair, while the defense was able to make a couple of stops.

During the workout, the Guins spent time on kickoff returns. Stubbs was a first-team all-conference selection last year and is a preseason first-team all-league pick as a return specialist for 2014.

YSU is set to practice twice on Wednesday. The first workout is set for 9 a.m. while the afternoon portion will be at 5 p.m.

Penguin Club memberships and season-ticket packages are still available to support the team. For information on Penguin Club memberships contact Tom Morella at tmorella@ysu.edu and for details on season-ticket packages call the Athletic Ticket Office at (330) 941-1978.

Congratulations to today's Penguin Club 40th Anniversary Celebration winner Vincent O'Block. O'Block won a nice YSU Penguin Club wind shirt just for renewing his 2014 membership.
