Schuler, Hrynkiewicz Earn Valley Football All-Newcomer Accolades

Youngstown State redshirt punter Mark Schuler and sophomore center Vitas Hrynkiewicz were named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference's All-Newcomer Team the league announced on Tuesday.

Hrynkiewicz, a sophomore from Somerset, N.J., started all 11 games during the regular-season at center blocking for first-team all-MVFC TB Martin Ruiz

Schuler showed a tremendous leg in his first season with the Penguins averaging 43.1 yards per punt, the second-best single-season average in YSU history. In conference play he increased his average to 45.5 yards per kick.

The Penguins take on third-seed Jackonsville State on Saturday at 2 p.m. Eastern time in Jacksonville, Ala., in the second round of the FCS Playoffs.

Started all 11 games at center in his first year with the program…worked with three different starting quarterbacks and four QBs during the season…in conference play YSU averaged 248 yards rushing per game…played every snap in seven of eight MVFC games.
