The Youngstown State football team worked out for just more than two hours at Stambaugh Stadium on a beautiful spring Monday afternoon. Temperatures for the entire practice were in the upper 60's.

YSU has an impressive number of players in camp with 95 as part of the program this spring.

Senior CB David Rivers III intercepted a Trent Hosick pass and returned it for a touchdown in the team period. Later, freshman safety Kyle Hegedus stepped up and picked off a Nathan Mays pass and returned that for a touchdown as well.

In the second 15-minute team period, Hunter Wells completed long passes down the middle of the field to tight ends Jacob Wood and Shane Kuhn. LB Jaylin Kelly took a deflected pass and returned it for a pick-six and defensive tackle Lamont Ragland had an interception.

The workout featured two team periods, two 7-on-7 sequences and consisted of more than 15 minutes of special teams work. YSU opened practice with individual drills for the first 20 minutes.

The Penguins are set to practice again on Wednesday afternoon. The workout is slated for 3:30 p.m.
